Day 1: Arrival in Arusha
You will arrive at Kilimanjaro International Airport or Arusha Airport, where your safari guide will warmly welcome you and transfer you to your lodge in Arusha. After check-in, you’ll have a safari briefing and time to relax and prepare for the exciting days ahead.
Day 2: Tarangire National Park
After breakfast, you’ll drive to Tarangire National Park, famous for its large elephant herds, ancient baobab trees, and seasonal swamps. You’ll spend the day exploring the park on a game drive, spotting wildlife such as lions, giraffes, zebras, and various bird species. In the late afternoon, you’ll head to your lodge in the Karatu area for dinner and overnight.
Day 3: Lake Manyara National Park
Today you’ll explore Lake Manyara National Park, known for its diverse ecosystems, groundwater forest, and tree-climbing lions. The park also hosts hippos, baboons, and large flocks of flamingos along the lakeshore. After a rewarding game drive and optional visit to a nearby village, you’ll return to your lodge in Karatu.
Day 4: Lake Eyasi – Cultural Experience with Hadzabe and Datoga Tribes
An early morning drive will take you to Lake Eyasi, where you’ll spend time with the Hadzabe Bushmen, joining them in a traditional hunting experience and learning about their unique way of life. You’ll also visit the Datoga tribe, known for their blacksmithing skills. This cultural day offers a deep insight into Tanzania’s indigenous communities. You’ll return to your lodge in Karatu in the afternoon.
Day 5: Serengeti National Park
After breakfast, you’ll begin the scenic drive to Serengeti National Park, passing through the Ngorongoro highlands. You can stop at Olduvai Gorge for a brief visit to one of the world’s most important archaeological sites. Upon entering the Serengeti, you’ll enjoy a game drive en route to your camp, arriving in time to watch the sunset over the endless plains.
Day 6: Serengeti to Ngorongoro Conservation Area
You’ll start the day with an early morning game drive in the Serengeti, where you might see lions, cheetahs, or even leopards on the hunt. After breakfast, you’ll continue through the park and make your way toward the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, enjoying wildlife sightings along the way. You’ll spend the night at a lodge on the crater rim or nearby in Karatu.
Day 7: Ngorongoro Crater and Departure
On your final day, you’ll descend into the Ngorongoro Crater for a half-day game drive in this lush, wildlife-rich caldera. Home to the Big Five, the crater offers excellent chances of seeing black rhinos, lions, elephants, and hippos in one location. After a picnic lunch by a hippo pool, you’ll ascend from the crater and drive back to Arusha or head to the airport for your onward flight.
